Call for Applications

CIAS is pleased to announce its grant opportunities for the Academic Year 2020/2021. The deadline for applications:

January 15th 2020.

The Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS) is pleased to invite applicants for its senior and junior fellowship program for the academic year 2020/21. The leadership of Corvinus University of Budapest has decided to establish the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies – Central Europe in Global Context. The establishment of CIAS aims to reach a higher level of the University’s research performance and significantly improve its international potential. CIAS has been established in affiliation with Corvinus University of Budapest. CIAS provides research fellowships for scholars with outstanding credentials. The fundamental goal is to create an inspiring and creative intellectual community. Scholarships are granted in a process based on thematic calls for application, this contributes to CIAS’ own intellectual profile that is in harmony with the goals of Budapest, Hungary and Central Europe.

The operation of CIAS is based on „centers” and projects. The first such center in operation is the Social Futuring Center of Corvinus University which was founded in February 2017 to implement the research project „ConNext 2050” working on developing a Social Futuring Index – SFI. Other centers will be established around research themes of the seven doctoral schools of the University (International Relations Multidisciplinary Doctoral School, Doctoral School of Political Science, Doctoral School of Sociology, Doctoral School of Social Communication, Doctoral School of Business Informatics, Doctoral School of General and Quantitative Economics, Doctoral School of Business and Management) which are the key areas of the research activities of Corvinus University. The fellows will be hosted by the Corvinus Institute of Advanced Studies and an adequate department or research team of the University.

The application process is managed by Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies. Grants are made to citizens of any countries for a variety of research and educational activities (primary advanced research and university teaching).

The CIAS awards provide international travel for the grantee to and from the host institution (CIAS) in Budapest and limited accident and sickness insurance. CIAS fellows receive stipend provided by CIAS. (Please see detailed information about the grant package in Appendix A.)

Most grants are awarded for a period of one or two semesters (5 or 10 months) and in special circumstances, may be extended for limited periods.

A grant may be revoked, terminated, or suspended. Grounds for revocation or termination include, but are not limited to (a.) violation of any law of Hungary (b.) failure of observe satisfactory academic or professional standards; (c.) physical or mental incapacitation; (d.) engaging in any unauthorized income-producing activity; (e.) failure to comply with the grant’s terms and conditions; (f.) material misinterpretation made by any grantee in the application form or grant document.

A grant may be suspended if (a.) the grantee ceases to carry out the project during the grant period; (b.) the grantee leaves Hungary without authorization of CIAS.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • only those with publications in internationally recognized scholarly outlets will be considered;
