Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal at Corvinus| 2014.07.18.

His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had been awarded at 17, July, 2014 as our newly initiated honorary doctor.

At the special session of the Senate of Corvinus University of Budapest, His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had been awarded at 17, July, 2014 as our newly initiated honorary doctor.

It was a great honour to greet our distinguished guests of the diplomatic corps and the members of the delegations and also the members of the Hungarian Government from the main ministries and 
the members of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference; rectors, vice-rectors and deans.

University education and scientific development cannot be imagined without a wide range of academic cooperation and international professional contacts. It is always a distinguished event in the life of our University to confer the highest distinction, the title of honorary doctor (doctor honoris causa). The Senate rewards this title to those whom pursue outstanding and internationally recognized scientific and public activity and at the same time keep closely in touch with our Alma Mater.

An extract from the resolution adopted by the University Senate states:
"The Senate of Corvinus University of Budapest, taking into account His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud
s professional and scientific activity, his international reputation and activity in the interest of our University, has decided to confer the title of "doctor honoris causa" on him.

After Erzsebet Novaky presiding chair expressed her special and warm welcome to His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Professor Zsolt Rostoványi, Rector of Corvinus University of Budapest acquainted us with His Royal Highness’ professional and scientific work.

Professor Rostoványi highlighted, His Royal Highness is deeply commited for encouraging tolerance and strengthening interfaith and intercultural dialogue, also promoting programs and educational centers in order to improve mutual understanding between Western and Islamic communities. He had been supporting several institutions, like  the Harvard University, teh Georgetown University, the University of Edinburgh, or the University of Cambridge.


 

After the ceremonial awarding His Royal Highness delivered His inaugural lecture. He emphasized the importance of our country in the world through our lions, such as Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók, John Kemény, Dénes Gábor, Ede Teller, or Imre Kertész.
